Monday brought back the school week, duty and all. Morning retinue went according the plan then off to ATT. Our subject started at Parallel Circuits and went through troubleshooting and into Series-Parallel circuits and troubleshooting. It took a little bit of work to expand but I know it's nothing compared to what's coming. We went into Kirchhoff's law and voltage dividers.

When we got back to the Porter my original plans were shot when we were mustered for a mandatory event called heritage but our NMTI's and Chief were happy because the Porter won ship of the month again as well as ship of the quarter. I had no idea what I was in for but from the sounds my ship mates were making about the experience it was going to be drawn out. We all marched out to Ross theater, the old theater in the historical portion of base and arrived early as usual.

The event itself turned out to be yet another sapper class much like SexSignals had been but this one is given to the genpop every few months or so which is why my ship mates were already whining about it. This particular one used a set of actors to portray a fictional situation and then had audience participation for interaction. In this case the the situation was a female crew mate having just made a report of sexual assault that got a male crew mate removed from a small ship and the post-situation. It centered around 5 characters, a primary antagonist who was the amalgamation of many American gender stereotypes, a male character who has assault in his past but was told men don't get raped, a friend of the victim who didn't want to be associated with her any longer, the victim herself and a rather timid "one of the guys" who tries to stand up for the victim and gets shut down.

The improve progressed about how you can imagine with that set-up, most people got shut down by the more aggresive alpha who say the girl as having gotten rid of his buddy for no reason, then we talked for a bit, got some back story from the characters and talked some more. The bystander intervention training and other aspects are so frequent that it currently is contributing to a cultural overload where many of the guys feel like they are being told over and over that if they even think about a woman they will be perceived as a rapist all while continuing some fairly questionable conversations from time to time.

During the interaction portion several Porter sailors went to the stage, it was nice to see the "Porter Pride" come out then as much of my experience actually in BEQ are complaints about the overall experience on board. Once we marched back liberty dropped and it was back to reutine.
